Awards

Each year Buma Cultuur presents a number of special awards to Dutch artists for their achievements.

The Pop Award is presented to the Dutch artist who has made the most significant contribution to Dutch pop music in the previous year.

The Buma Awards are presented annually to composers, lyricists and music publishers for the most populair songs of the previous year. Buma honors its greatest composers with a Lifetime Achievement Award and the best lyricist receives the Lennaert Nijgh Prijs. The makers of the music written for the most succesful Dutch film are presented the Buma Film music Award and a Golden Harp is awarded to an individual who have specifically contributed to the performance and success of Dutch music copyright.

From 2008 – 2012 the Buma Toonzetters Award was given to the composer of the best contemporary composition.

Buma Cultuur also sponsors the Annie M.G. Schmidt Award for the year’s best Dutch theatre music and cabaret composition, and the Buma ROCKS! Export Award for the most successful artist abroad in the heavy music.
