Buma ROCKS! announces date for 2016, early bird tickets now on sale
The fourth edition of Buma ROCKS!, the international conference and showcase festival for loud music, will take place on Saturday 4 June 2016. The event is open to the general audience and aims to connect ambitious and upcoming acts in hard rock, metal and related genres to professionals from the rock business both from the Netherlands and internationally. Doornroosje in Nijmegen will again be the venue of choice for the conference. For the showcase festival, Buma ROCKS! strengthened the ties with metal festival FortaRock a little more. In the evening after the conference four bands will perform on the Buma ROCKS! stage on the grounds of FortaRock, who are looking at their very first two-day edition on June 4 & 5, 2016. Death-thrashers Legion Of The Damned are the first act confirmed for the Buma ROCKS! stage. During the Heavy Panel at Eurosonic Noorderslag (see below) details shall be revealed about the selection of the other bands for Buma ROCKS! @ FortaRock. Early Bird tickets for Buma ROCKS! 2016 are set at € 35 and are available as of now through www.bumarocks.nl.
Keynote speech by Alex Agnew, first panelists confirmed
The Buma ROCKS! conference programme will be off to a great start with the keynote speech of Alex Agnew. He is well-known in the Benelux as the singer for Antwerp metalband Diablo Blvd. Besides that he got his breakthrough as a stand-up comedian by winning the prestigious Leids Cabaret Festival in 2003. A combination of artistic expression that might drive Alex insane if he weren’t doubling as a super hero in the world of comics. The second guest confirmed for the conference is American radio stalwart Marco Collins, who witnessed the rise of grunge in the nineties when he was working as a DJ for alternative radio station The End in Seattle. After 25 years in the business, Marco obviously knows all about rock radio in the USA. Furthermore Buma ROCKS! will offer sound advice to rock musicians who are trying to set up their business, with accountant/Rock Academy teacher Ruud Hoevenaar, as the first guest to answer questions both appropriate and not.
Buma ROCKS! presents the Heavy Panel during Eurosonic Noorderslag…
For the third year in a row, Buma ROCKS! presents the Heavy Panel during the Eurosonic Noorderslag conference in Groningen. A great warming-up to Buma ROCKS! for all ESNS-delegates with connections in the heavy scene on Saturday 16 January. The theme of the Dutch-spoken panel this year is ‘Dutch Radio vs. Heavy Music’: with all heavy music in that little online niche, why isn’t there a proper radio platform anymore for hard rock, metal and related genres? Coincidence? Four experts will discuss the subject: Wilbert Mutsaers, station manager of NPO 3FM, NPO Radio 6 Soul & Jazz and FunX for over six years, Pete Da Bomber, half of the Flemish heavy DJ duo Goe Vur In Den Otto, famous for their shows at festivals and at Studio Brussel, Metal Mike, the big man behind metal magazine Aardschok as well as the internet radio channel of the same name, and last but not least Daniel Regan, manager of world-famous female-fronted metal band Epica.
…and Buma ROCKS! presents Loud & Proud with three great bands at Lola!
For the very first time in its history Buma ROCKS! throws a party during Eurosonic: Loud & Proud will take place on Friday 15 January in lovely Lola at Pelsterdwarsstraat 11 between 5 and 8 pm. Expect food and drinks and killer performances of none less than Buma ROCKS!-alumni John Coffey, Mandrake’s Monster and The Charm The Fury. Sounds like the ultimate heavy networking event! Have a look at the Loud & Proud promo video at www.bumarocks.nl.
