Eurosonic Noorderslag confirms keynote interview with Folkert Koopmans

One of Europe’s leading promotors Folkert Koopmans will appear in a keynote interview at Eurosonic Noorderslag. Folkert Koopmans is managing director of FKP Scorpio Konzertproduktionen GmbH in Germany. Eurosonic Noorderslag, the European showcase festival and conference, takes place in Groningen/The Netherlands from the 15th to the 18th of January, 2014.

Folkert Koopmans was born in Orleans in 1963. In the early eighties the industrial manager worked as a freelance promoter and three years as the talent buyer for the clubs „Große Freiheit 36“ and the „Docks“ in Hamburg St. Pauli. In 1990 Folkert Koopmans established the concert agency FKP Scorpio Konzertproduktionen GmbH that is based in Hamburg, Germany. Besides the planning and the execution of national (for example Eminem, Placebo, Coldplay, Faith No More, Faithless, The Stone Roses) and local concerts in northern Germany (for example Eagles, Robbie Williams, REM, Shakira, Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen, Oasis, Tori Amos, Bryan Adams, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Alicia Keys, Moby), FKP Scorpio promotes the most popular German Open Air Festivals – among others the Hurricane, the Southside, the Highfield and the M’era Luna.

Folkert Koopmans is always searching for new artists and projects. With over 90 employees FKP Scorpio is among the leading promoters in Europe nowadays. Over the last decade, Koopman’s company has also ventured outside the traditional rock and pop sphere and staged a variety of innovative events – from Cuban dance performances, to the gourmet theatre PALAZZO, to classic opera in an extra-large format (AIDA and CARMEN).

Eurosonic Noorderslag
On Wednesday January 15, 2014 Eurosonic Noorderslag opens with the European Music Awards (European Border Breakers Awards and European Festival Awards) and the Eurosonic festival. The event completes on Saturday with, among others, an innovative festival and stage production and design programme during daytime and the Noorderslag festival during the evening.
