New names for Buma ROCKS! and FortaRock in the City
With the Danish Night Fever and Scarred from Luxembourg, there are already three bands on the bill of FortaRock in the City. The solo project of Frenchman Gautier Serre, either Igorrr, had previously been announced for the new initiative which takes place in the evening of June 5 at Doornroosje, Nijmegen. Dutch bands who would like to try and secure a slot for a Buma ROCKS! showcase gig during FortaRock in the City, should apply via www.bumarocks.nl. Next to Night Fever and Scarred, Buma ROCKS! can also also announce three new panelists, Dan Brown, Mark Jansen and Walter Hoeijmakers as well as the final jury member for the Heavy Demo panel, Jens Prüter. The Early Bird tickets for the third edition of Buma ROCKS! cost € 39 and are on sale through www.bumarocks.nl. FortaRock in the City tikets are on sale through www.doornroosje.nl.
Buma ROCKS! and FortaRock in the City present Night Fever and Scarred
At showcase festival When Copenhell Freezes Over in Copenhagen, on January 24, hardcore punk outfit Night Fever impressed the audience with relentless energy and a generous amount of rock hard songs. They secured themselves a slot at FortaRock in the City, the evening programme following the Buma ROCKS! conference on June 5 in club Doornroosje, Nijmegen. Another addition to FortaRock in the City is young Luxemburg band Scarred. With Gaia-Medea they delivered quite an impressive album in 2013, produced by (former Textures guitarist) Jochem Jacobs. And yes, that’s an indication of the kind of beast we’re dealing with here: Scarred delivers aggressive and technical metal with a deep groove.
New panelists: Dan Brown, Mark Jansen and Walter Hoeijmakers
Buma ROCKS! is happy to announce three new panel members for the conference programme. Dan Brown is only 26, but he has a ton of experience in the music business already. After singing for seven years with We Are The Ocean, Dan switched to managing at Mythophonic Management (Enter Shikari, The Darkness, Hacktivist, and many others), and then Raw Power Management (August 2014), working with Bullet For My Valentine and Funeral For A Friend. Mark Jansen came to prominence as guitarist and songwriter for After Forever in 2000. In 2002 he founded Epica with his then girlfriend Simone Simons, to even greater acclaim. As if that band’s status isn’t enough to keep him busy, Mark has a progressive and extreme side project going as well: MaYaN. Owning a Master degree in psychology, Mark is never shy of some serious reflections on his career in metal. Walter Hoeijmakers is Mr. Roadburn. A metal journalist, stoner rock fanatic and co-founder of website Roadburn, that spawned the by now 17 year old happening in venue 013 in the city of Tilburg. Walter is ready to plead for a music scene that doesn’t get more fragmented, but that supports itself where it can.
Heavy Demo judge nr 3: Jens Prüter
We would like to announce a great addition to our Heavy Demo panel: Century Media Records’ Jens Prüter. Alongside Oscar Holleman and John van Luyn he will judge a maximum of ten demos that will be played on stage at Doornroosje. After working as a freelancer, Jens joined Century Media Europe in 2002 and within four years he had become head of the A&R department. He signed bands like Paradise Lost, Watain, Periphery, Insomnium and recently Barren Earth, re-signed Century Media stalwarts like Arch Enemy, Dark Tranquillity and Iced Earth, and has been supervising marketing campaigns of all major artists on the label. Everyone buying a ticket for Buma ROCKS! has the opportunity to mention that he or she would like to apply for a Heavy Demo judgement. Make yourself heard!
Remember: Buma ROCKS!, the international conference and showcase festival for loud music on June 5 at the brand new Doornroosje venue in Nijmegen will be open to the general public; no more invitations-only, as was the case in previous years. Early Bird tickets for the third edition of Buma ROCKS! will be on sale through www.bumarocks.nl until February 16, for only € 39.
