Within Temptation receives the Buma ROCKS! Export Award 2016

Dutch symphonic rock band Within Temptation has received the Buma ROCKS! Export Award 2016 from the hands of Frank Helmink, director of Buma Cultuur. The Award ceremony took place during the sold out fourth edition of Buma ROCKS!, the international conference and showcase festival for loud music in Nijmegen. Within Temptation follows Adje Vandenberg and Epica, who were handed the Award in 2014 and 2015 respectively. Tonight the band will headline the first day of FortaRock at the Nijmegen Goffertpark.

Buma ROCKS! Export Award
The Buma ROCKS! Export Award is an initiative of the Buma Cultuur foundation and exists since 2014. The Award is handed out every year to the Dutch heavy music act that has been most successful abroad. From 2006 until 2014 this music prize was known as the Buma Export Award, and before that as the Conamus Exportprijs (since 1972). Within Temptation has won both those awards in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006.

Frank Helmink, director of Buma Cultuur and the initiator of Buma ROCKS!: “This fantastic band can look back at an impressive career and is no less than a rock institute that has played an essential part in popularizing Dutch heavy music both at home and abroad. In the twenty years of their existence, the band has released a great number of singles, six studio albums and three dvd’s that sold over three and a half million copies in over fifty countries around the world. They performed more than seven hundred times in dozens of countries – from Japan to Peru and from Canada to Dubai. Truly an impressive track record.”

Within Temptation
Within Temptation was founded in 1996 by singer Sharon den Adel and guitarist Robert Westerholt and has become one of the most successful symphonic rock bands of its kind. The group has received many golden and platinum records as well as prestigious international awards. The six-piece has reached high chart positions with a number of singles and studio albums.
