ESNS puts the Irish music scene in the spotlight in 2027

From January 13 to 16, 2027, Groningen will once again transform into the European center of new music thanks to Eurosonic Noorderslag (ESNS), where emerging artists, industry professionals, and music lovers come together. The organization is putting the Irish music scene in the spotlight for the second time by choosing the island as the focus country.

Second time Ireland as focus country

Every year, ESNS focuses on a European country to showcase the richness and diversity of the European music scene. It is the second time that ESNS shines a light on talent and themes from Ireland. Fifteen years after the first time, ESNS, First Music Contact, and RTÉ 2FM came to the conclusion that once again attention should be given to the island that is globally renowned for its strong musical tradition.

Through significant investments of resources by Culture Ireland and the Arts Council, we have been able to invest in education, professionalization, and support for Irish artists and their teams, with follow-up funding for tours from Culture Ireland to help our artists take advantage of the opportunities offered by ESNS, Ireland has taken its place as a producer of world-class artists.

From ESNS to international success

After a performance at ESNS, artists often increase their chances of being booked at European festivals, among other things, through the European Talent Exchange Program (ETEP). Over the years, many Irish artists have taken the stage at ESNS early in their careers. According to Oskar Strajn, Head of Music at ESNS, the momentum for a focus on Ireland is clearly visible:

The Irish music scene has been growing for years and is now truly in full bloom. With this focus, we want to celebrate both established names and give new talents a platform.

During the recent edition of ESNS, Irish acts were among the most booked artists in Europe. Florence Road, Madra Salach, and Dove Ellis even topped the list of most booked acts after the festival.

All European artists can now apply

No Irish roots, but do you also want to take your stage and hopefully break through internationally? As a European artist, you can now apply for ESNS 2027. Just like other European acts, take advantage of the most famous springboard for international breakthroughs. You can register via the ESNS website.

About Eurosonic Noorderslag

ESNS was founded in 1986 and has since transformed the North every year into the beating heart of the European music industry. There is plenty to do for both music enthusiasts and professionals in and out of the music world. In the Oosterpoort, there is the ESNS Conference, where you meet the key figures from the scene and create opportunities for yourself as a European artist. As a music fan, you visit various locations in the evening during the festival part to discover new musical talent.
